Last week I blogged about my concerns over copyright issues with images and the Pinterest service.

Basically, when someone Pins an image to their board on Pinterest a copy of the image is taken and stored on the Pinterest servers.  You are then not in control of this image!

It would appear Pinterest are listening and have come up with a solution

From their online help....

What if I don't want images from my site to be pinned?

We have a small piece of code you can add to the head of any page on your site:

<meta name="pinterest" content="nopin" />

When a user tries to pin from your site, they will see this message:

"This site doesn't allow pinning to Pinterest. Please contact the owner with any questions. Thanks for visiting!"

Of course, this doesn't stop the user manually downloading the file and then uploading it but this is a huge step forward for Pinterest.  Glad they are listening and taking steps.  Opt-out is never as good as Opt-in but it's a good solution.

Share the knowledge if you are concerned about your images.
