o2 4g logoHot on the heals on the release of the new Nexus 7 model in the UK, O2 will tomorrow launch its 4G network in the UK and it has a rather exclusive piece of hardware to offer those keen to jump on their 4G network.

4G mobile networks are starting to roll out across the UK but EverythingEverywhere (EE) are the first to be up and running, covering around 130 cities and towns. O2's 4G Network will burst into life on Thursday 29 August and they have an exclusive offer -- they will be the only UK company to offer a 4G version of the new Nexus 7 !

Pricing for the device is not yet listed and availability is shown as September (only a few days away) in the O2 Nexus 7 shop.

A few points to note.

  • O2's 4G service will launch on 29 August 2013 to three cities only -- London, Leeds and Bradford.
  • They plan to offer 4G in 50 cities by the end of 2013
  • The O2 Nexus 7 offer states "4G will be available for tablets by the end of 2013" - quite what this means is a mystery? Will you have a Nexus 7 in September but unable to use the 4G in an activated city until end of 2013?

More as it develops
