Google has offered a rare glimpse inside some of its data centres under the fun tag line of "where the internet lives".

The gallery features images from several data centres demonstrating the scale, complexity and the very colourful environment.

In one multi-colour shot it shows the service pipes in a variety of hues.   "We paint them bright colours not only because it's fun, but also to designate which one is which," the website says.

Today, for the first time, you can see inside our data centres and pay them a virtual visit.
