Chromebook PixelToday Google took the wraps off their much anticipated Chromebook Pixel. As you would expect it only runs the Chrome operating system,so the Pixel is all about top of the range hardware.

The Chromebook Pixel announcement boasts the Pixel "brings together the best in hardware, software and design to inspire the next generation of Chromebooks." Pixel has the highest pixel density (239 pixels per inch) of any laptop screen on the market today --12.85" packed with 4.3 million pixels, and it's touchscreen.

The body of the Pixel is made from an anodized aluminium alloy, and is powered by an Intel Core i5 Processor and solid state Flash memory.

Full specification and details of the Pixel are here.

Orders for the WiFi version starts today, with shipping next week, on the Goolge Play store (£1,049/$1,299 US); the LTE version will ship in April in the USA.

The price could be off-putting for many, especially as you can't install any software on the Chromebook family.
