Blackberry are attempting a second roll out of Messenger for Android and iOS one month after their first attempt failed miserably.

BBM is available now in the Google Play Store and the Apple App store. There is however a queuing system in place.

Visiting via a browser on your mobile device will also take you to the necessary app download.

In an attempt to prevent a complete melt down of their BBM servers Blackberry are staging the roll out in a slightly different way from last time. Rather than release it at the stroke of midnight in each time zone you can download the app but must provide an email address to be notified when you may active the messenger app.

Those who had pre-registered an interest are activated immediately and Blackberry are committed to processing the remaining queue as quickly as possible ..."we are focused on moving millions of customers through the line as fast as possible."

In the blog post Blackberry claim six million people pre-registered an interest for the App.

I can confirm that as a pre-registered user I was activated immediately and able to create my Blackberry ID.
