Acer Iconia B1-A71At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Acer have announced their very own 7 inch tablet in direct competition with the Google Nexus 7 and the like.

The Acer Iconia B1-A71 will run the Android Jelly Bean operating system with 8GB of internal storage, expandable to 32GB via a micro-SD card.

Weighting 320 grams (20 less that the Nexus 7) it has a 7-inch WSVGA (1024x600) capacitive screen.  Other specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor,  Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, microsUSB slot and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.

The Acer Iconia B1-A71 is anticipated to arrive throughout Europe in mid-January with an estimated price of around £96 (â¬120). No word on US availability as yet.

Although the specification is nothing to be excited about, the price alone will open up tablets to even more of the market.
